Sketch Through the Text
This is one of my favorite classroom activities. And what's awesome about it, is that it is so versatile. It can be used with both fiction and nonfiction, and it can be used to address myriad CCSS reading standards.
The sketching element of this assignment really helps students' comprehension of the text. The written component helps support/assess reading and writing standards. It's also a super engaging activity.
