Guided Reading Leveled Book List (Q-Z)

I created a book list for guided reading levels Q through Z. This handout will come in handy at open houses, parent teacher conferences, and for your students. Parents often don't know what types of books to get for their child. This list gives a variety of book options to buy or check out at the library. This past year, I gave this list to my students and their families and they now feel confident going to the library and checking out a "just right" book. Fourth Graders should be reading a lev

Anatomy of a Volcano and 3 Types of Volcanoe

I created this simple review for my high school Earth Science course. Our students have a middle school Earth Science course, and in high school we go a bit deeper. However, as any teacher knows, sometimes students forget material between grades. This review is a graphic organizer to help students review old material, as well as start to add depth with new material. There is a list of words to define that will be used to label the anatomy of a volcano. Next comes the three types of volcano.

These are bookmarks on which your students can mark each chapter as they complete it. Or you may choose to have them mark the chapter you want them to read. I run them on cardstock and let my students color them and decorate the back of the bookmark with their names. I would not laminate these because it would make it hard to add the checks as they read.

I am not an English Teacher! My grandsons is dyslexic and while extremely intelligent, struggles with reading and comprehending what is read. Audio books work great but do not encourage him to practice much needed reading skills. I researched and found several books that qualified for required book reports. I purchased and read them highlighting the important information. My grandson found the highlighting more distracting than helpful, so I typed up the materials in a dyslexic font. This

Clara Barton: Angel of the Battlefield Outline Cloze Biography Time for Kids

This is a work packet/guided reading of the outline of the book "Clara Barton: Angel of the Battlefield" from Time for Kids Biographies. I outlined the whole book and left some of the terms blank. This is meant to guide students in an independent reading of the book. I used this for my 6th grade special education class and as a lead in to a unit on Biographies. It also correlated with their Social Studies curriculum. I will also be following this lesson with a lesson on how to take notes using

This packet contains questions to help students familiarize themselves with a textbook. Many of my middle school and high school students don't know how to use a textbook. It's a learned skill. I introduce this guide to help bring focus to things they generally skip - title, visuals, etc. This is a generic scavenger hunt that can be used for any textbook.4 pages of questions plus 1 page of Exit Ticket (total 5 pages). It takes time to go through these questions. My average student finished in 2
