Students usually need a refresher on which words are telling them to do certain operations.
Before teaching this lesson, I usually have students brainstorm words for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in groups and create a class list on the white board. They will usually have more than the examples I have provided. Then I have them work together or own their own, depending on ability levels in the class, to translate the examples in the PowerPoint.
