My students needed extra practice with certain figures of speech: personification, pun, idiom, irony, simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, alliteration, allusion. I made a definition flash card for each and had the students practice those until they mastered them. (I put those on a different color than the example cards.) I made several example flash cards and made it a competition. Suggested directions are on the final page.
