Idioms are difficult but fun. This Jeopardy game allows students to practice guessing the meaning of an idiom from the context. Each idiom is presented in a sentence and students must state the meaning to receive their points. There are five categories: body parts, weather, love, baseball, and around the house. Each category contains 6 idioms for a total of 30. The body parts category pairs well with the book Even More Parts and the around the house category pairs well with Amelia Bedelia.

This game gives students practice with 96 common English idioms. Students read the idiom and then explain what it means. Due to the large number of cards, I often contain them in an old tissue box (or similar).
