Description
Figurative Language: Proverbs What do these really mean? is a series of vocabulary building card activities that focus on metacognitively thinking about language to gain an understanding of the difference between abstract intentions and literal meaning. Figures of speech are important to literature and everyday conversation. They compare things to give greater meaning, add color and spark the imagination with visual imagery. Proverbs are short sayings that have a completely different meaning than their literal meaning. They are used to express meaning in a creative way to give advice based on common sense! Students write their answers or give them verbally then flip to the next page to check their answer.
