Parts of a Seed

Use this page to teach students the parts of a seed. Soak fresh seeds (We used lima beans) in water until they absorb water, the seed coat starts to come off, and they start to split open. Should take several hours. Students will each get their own seed and will be able to identify each part on their seed. They will tape each part of their seed to the bottom of their paper.

This is a four page packet made for K-1 students. Students can color in patterns, create their own patterns, and cut out shapes to form their own patterns. When I used this activity I had students use "click cubes" to create the patterns on page one. I also had them act out the pattern, and then they colored the pattern.
