Elf in the Classroom Arrival Letter - No mention of Christmas or Santa!
I was on the hunt for a letter to have my Elf bring with him when he makes his debut in my classroom next week, but wanted one that didn't specifically mention Santa or Christmas. No luck so I wrote my own poem telling a little about the Elf and reminding the students to be on their best behavior this holiday season.
Attached is the letter in the .doc file so you can replace any of the text that you choose. The elf's name in the letter is Tinsel, but you can edit as you choose.

Cereal Box Biography Project - Black History Month or any biography
This is a Black History Biography project which required my students to create a new cereal based on the life on a famous African American. The students had to design a cereal box to tell the story of the person they chose. They had to include things like a cereal name that relates to the person, a picture of the person, a timeline of the person's life, character traits of the person, and a written report of the biography they read about the person. My own students had a blast with this project.

Thanksgiving Crossword
This is a Thanksgiving Crossword Puzzle. I always feel that if you are going to take the trouble of printing off a crossword puzzle for everyone it should a least last 10 to 15 minutes and be somewhat challenging. Most of the crosswords take 2 minutes to complete. I have included a version of the crossword without the word bank for the brave of heart. I hope this works for you. This game can played just like regular bingo, except that instead of calling numbers, you will be playing songs or song clips. The music is a variety of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Winter songs. Included are 30 different bingo boards, directions and hints for playing the game, and a list of songs used in the game. These files are in color--they can be printed out in black and while, but they look much better in color. This game has been used successfully with students in grades 3-6 as well

The Nutcracker: A Craft-ivity
Students love the story of the Nutcracker. Included in this document is a re-telling of the story and a fun project! Students color and cut out a nutcracker doll, then glue him to an empty paper towel roll for a 3D nutcracker of their very own. This can easily be done in a 20 to 30-minute time period in school, but it is fun to give this as a take-home project so that students can use additional materials (sequins, beads, feathers, etc.) and bring back for a colorful display at school!
