Christmas Poetry Scavenger Hunt
I made a search for literary devices in different Christmas songs. I made them stations and gave the kids about 3-5 minutes per station. They loved it! Songs lyrics are not attached due to possible copyright issues, but they are easy to find online. You can also play the songs for the students and have them try to listen for them.Updated- I made more of an outline for kids to follow, as well as an answer key. I added a few devices as well. Using Miley Cyrus' famous song, "Party in the U.S.A.", I created a figurative language song that covers similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeias, personifcation, idioms, and hyperboles, making it a "Party in the Whole 5th Grade"! The kids will be highly motivated to learn all about the different types of figurative language.
