This literacy with music integrated lesson takes around 45 minutes to complete. This is an extension of previous learning about rhythm, beat, and music tempo. God Bless America in Signs
American Sign Language (ASL) is a language all its own. It is conceptual and has its own syntax. However, when the interpreter signs a song as others sing, this syntax is often mixed with English syntax so that the order of words matches more closely with the words being sung audibly.
This product presents the song in sign illustrations as it would be signed while someone sang aloud. This is followed by a chart with explanations for the signs used to represent each word concept.

This is a paper I use with my students for melody reading using the Japanese folk song Sakura. It begins on A and is easily playable on the recorder in A minor pentatonic. The top of the paper has letters in boxes representing the notes for those students who are not reading music on the staff or those who are having trouble with reading music on the staff.
