This is a small group reader's theater is for four students. This is a way to tie together math and language arts. I use the Fraction Freak scripts to help reteach ideas that students are struggling with or to help introduce a new concept. It exposes students to the vocabulary and uses a different part of their brain. The Brother/Sister Principle - Storytelling in 6th grade math
Students enjoy hearing stories. If it's a story that they can identify with, they enjoy it even more. This is a story I use with my 6th grade math class to help them remember the procedure used to find equivalent fractions. After students understand the concept as it relates to fractions, you can use it again when it's time to solve for variables and keep things "fair" on both sides of the equation. It will get to a point in the year where you will just have to say "Brother/Sister Principle"
