Time to Vote! - Introduction for young students
Time to Vote!
This is a smart board activity that introduces the process of voting to young students.
Two candidates are introduced: Mr. Banana and Ms. Apple. The students will have to make the decision of whom they will vote for. If you have older students, you can have two students be the candidates to be voted on.

Forms of Government
Students work in groups to make a decision while trying to represent an assigned form of government. I decide on the monarch for "monarchies." Students discuss what movie they would like to watch and, once a decision has been made, answer questions such as how long it took, whether they had any part in the decision, and whether they agree with the group decision. Then they are asked to identify one good thing and one bad thing about the system of government they were assigned.

This is a great unit if you are bringing attention to the upcoming presidential election. It gives grade schoolers the opportunity to learn debating skills revolving around an election that they are undoubtedly aware of.

This is a 30 second political campaign video created for Ice Cream. This was used in a Kindergarten Voting Lesson where the students were voting between two candidates: Ice Cream or Pizza. The purpose of the video is to show the students the various attributes and good qualities of Ice Cream. The video tries to persuade the students to vote for Ice Cream.
