Quilt Square Symmetry Project
This lesson uses the cultural resources of the Appalachian south (barn quilt squares) to integrate student culture into geometry.Students will create a barn quilt square using the geometric concepts of translation, rotation, and reflection. I focused on symmetry in this project.This project was adapted from the NCTM lesson "Quilt Block Symmetries" for use in my 5th grade class.If you use this resource, please leave a review and let me know how it went!
