Ratios: Travel the World Long-term Project
This long-term, real-world project is one of my FAVORITES. I use it as a collaborative activity that spans over several weeks during math centers. It is rigorous, engaging and relevant.
Students solve problems using:
1) tape diagrams (bar models)
2) ratio tables
Students are given the exchange rates sheet (included) and there are 7 different countries that they will "travel" to with the goal of staying under $2000 in total. Each "country" has various questions for calculating money spent. I
