I use this in my Algebra 1 class to introduce slope. I start out with a story about my "first skiing experience." I explain how when I was on the ski lift it was fun and I had a "positive experience." Then I was going way too fast down the hill and my feelings were very negative. Then I got to the bottom and I was cruising and I had 0 feelings. Simultaneous Equations Group Work Activity
This is a 'placemat' style activity for use with pupils who have just finished the simultaneous equations topic, or need more practice at worked questions.
The 'placemat' works by giving the pupils each an area to work on a large whiteboard or piece of A3 paper. Pupils work individually during the first timer, then have time as a group to collaborate their ideas into the 'perfect solution' in the center of the 'placemat'.
