I currently teach Chinese full-time to high school and middle school students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, and I have been teaching for a year and a half now overall. My lifelong loves have always been studying Chinese language and culture, English literature, and writing. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chinese Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Trinity University in 2015. Overall, I have studied Chinese for 8 years, and my proficiency with the language is bolstered by studying abroad in Beijing for 4 months under the IES intensive language program.

I feel a real sense of accomplishment from getting to know my students and seeing them grow as learners. My philosophy about teaching and tutoring boils down to a few characteristics: have fun, bolster the student's confidence, and give them interesting information in interesting ways. Furthermore, the typical native Chinese method of learning involves rote memorization, which often does not work for Western students: as such, my teaching style is instead multi-sensory, focused on individual study skills, experiential, and pragmatic. I would argue this is style is significantly better for students used to the American education system.
