Entering my 9th year of teaching in an urban school district in Little Rock, Arkansas. In addition to teaching 8th Grade United States History, I serve as a Curriculum Specialist focused on the development and implementation of Middle School disciplinary literacy curriculum in the Social Studies classroom. I also serve as the building Testing Coordinator, overseeing local and state periodic and summative assessments at the building level.
Structured, high energy, rigious, and creative. I utilize rituals and routines and interactive notebooks in order to create a safe, productive, and predictable environment for my middle school students. My structured classroom allows us to be more active, more creative, and open to trying new things. Holding my students to high standards allows them to challenge themselves to grow as learners while preparing them for high school Advanced Placement courses.
