I have taught for many years, in many schools in Australia and the United Kingdom. I have in the past few years found a new lease of life in my teaching due to an opportunity that fell in my lap. I have been able to tap into the early enthusiasm I had for teaching, I feel my teaching has been revitalised. I have taught all years and also spent a long time as Teacher Librarian - a position I am going back to this year (2013).
I am very interested in Inquiry Based Learning and have had the opportunity to attend a number of Kath Murdoch"s lectures and visit schools who work under these principles. Education has changed immensely since I started teaching and I now believe children need to be taught in a manner that is authentic and relevant to their world. That doesn't mean we ditch the old, I really struggle to find that balance between the old and the new (help often needed here). I think posing questions, being curious (me included) and creating an environment that encourages both of these is crucial.

I live on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales near a small town called Macksville. My husband, 2 children ( 9 and 5) and I are fortunate to have 160 acres to play in. Most of it is bush with lots of lovely birds and wildlife we do have 4 sheep, 2 dogs and a number of Koi. It is a beautiful part of the world with fabulous beaches 15 minutes away so we have the best of country.
