I am an veteran teacher with many years of teaching experience. My husband was in the military so I have a vast array of experience teaching in elementary, middle school, and high school. Positions I have held include special education teacher in resource rooms, inclusion teacher, and self-contained.I have taught in New York, Overseas for the Department of Defense Schools, New Mexico, and Georgia. I have taught it all! Currently, I am a 5th grade lead teacher actively involved in the Teach American History Grant or TAH. This is an exciting program that really inspires me to get my students thinking. I currently have 96 students with a mixed population of gifted students, general education students and struggling learners.
My style is organized with a focus on cooperative learning. In truth, my favorite strategy is think pair share tasks where students really grow! I must also admit that my best friend in the classroom is a timer. Too much to do in too little time! If I had to identify my style I would say I am very "Harry Wong" and really try to set my students up for success as well as I like to see them think!
