TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching math for 15 years started with 6th grade and now I am a math specialist and work with all elementary grades k-6. I have taught many workshops, and specialize in teaching rational numbers in a conceptual way. I have invented an expandable decimal/fraciton number line, currently being sold by ETA (Hand2Mind), and have been a speaker at the NCTM's several times and my topic was a hands-on approach to teaching decimal and fraction concepts. Check out my downloadable paper decimal number line.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that students need to be able to visualize what they are learning. Students need to use hands-on manipulatives and games to be actively engage in learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Inventor of the Folding Number Line (used for teaching decimal and fraction number sense concepts) now being sold by ETA Cuisinaire or Hand2Mind. Wrote the book the goes with the Folding Number Line that includes lesson plans for using the number line. Speaker at the NCTM's several years.
