Throughout my educational training and employment, I have worked in general education and special education classrooms. Through my degree and employment, I have taught across 7 public elementary schools including a school for severe and profound disabilities in Maryland as well as three learning-for-life classrooms. I have also worked as a special educator for an individualized special education program for students with severe intellectual, physical, emotional, hearing, visual, and learning disabilities. I have begun my teaching experiences fully in 2017. I have taught all grades K - 5th. I am passionate about all surrounding aspects of education and am well aware of the hard work it takes to build and maintain a classroom across general and special education settings! My experiences have helped to define my ethics of work as I hope to bring less stress into your work environments through this journey we will take together.
Instead of narrowing the focus to one teaching style, I wanted to reflect on my philosophy of education. My philosophy for little learners' education is that all children need an engaging learning environment and healthy relationships with their teachers where they can grow physically, mentally, and emotionally. It has been my long-term mission to provide all children with a safe, culturally responsive, inclusive, caring, and enjoyable learning environment in which students are physically, mentally, and emotionally cared for. This may often include providing multiple means of communication, helping with vocational skills, and adapting learning materials to fit diverse learners' needs through accommodations and modifications. It has always been my goal to create this type of atmosphere welcoming all little learners to fully meet their potential and gain self-confidence for entering adulthood. I believe in providing a safe learning environment where all students feel comfortable enough to share their ideas and gain positive relationships with one another. My “teaching style” is to be the type of teacher that I had always needed through my early education. I believe that no set style can help all students learn as they need multiple means of representation and hands-on resources. From my experiences, anything taught should feel insightful and fun. As a teacher, it is often difficult to spend hours creating your teaching and learning resources. With this in mind, I hope that my affordable resources can save you time to be your best self with all your little learners.
While I have only been teaching for a few years, I like to believe that my rewards in life are defeating obstacles and getting to know families in the community I love. Between my bachelors degree and landing my dream job I have also became an active member of Kappa Delta Pie’s international honor society of education focused on leadership, scholarship, and service.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education as a dual insert qualifying for both general education and special education. I intend to pursue a Master's Degree to further my expertise in education, become a children's author, and create affordable resources such as this to help teachers and homeschooling families around the world to spend more time just enjoying the day with their students. I hope that you join me on this journey and find yourself in situations where you have more time and less stress. Thank you for taking the time to read my biography as I am excited to connect with you through my work.
