TEACHING EXPERIENCE

- 5 years teaching art classes as a teaching artist at Twin Cities art centers, Minnetonka Center for the Arts & Articulture - Multiple art teaching residencies with local high schools and youth organizations in the twin cities (since 2012) - some healing arts including teaching women in recovery and starting an adult art studio and program at a homeless shelter - 2 years (4 semesters) teaching a 3000 level Media Design class at the University of Minnnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communication

MY TEACHING STYLE

My MFA thesis research is making as a methodology. Therefore, I do many activities and object-based inquiry and learning because for me, doing leads to knowing. I believe in teaching not just the subject matter, but teaching students how to learn. I am open, flexible, and encourage students to define their own problems. Creative making is a design process through which one learns.
