I have taught at the high school level for 5 years now. I have experience teaching a variety of sciences, including: Forensic science, Anatomy and Physiology, Physical and Earth Science, Physics and Engineering, Earth and Space, Biology, and Physical Science. In addition to teaching at the high school level I was also a tutor for 2.5 years. In that time I taught both ACT and SAT prep courses, general homework help. In addition to these programs I was also leading literacy, math, and science programs at varying academic levels. I also helped pilot a preschool program that taught phonics and early reading skills for children before entering pre school. For the last 2 years I have also been one of the key writers of curriculum for a school district that is piloting Competency Based Education.
Learning through discovery is the name of the game when it comes to using scientific practices. I use the NGSS practices to format my materials. The last two years I have used student led inquiry and interdisciplinary styles. I have also been trained using Kagan structures within the classroom.
