My previous work experience was within the publishing industry. I was an editor for a publishing company; however, I always wanted to teach. Because of this, I went back to school to get my license to teach in PA. I'm currently a 4th year teacher. I've taught at two different schools: one was a low-income district in a rural area and the other is a low-income district in an area that is heavily populated with ESL and ELL students (current employment).
I'm strict but fair. My lessons, tests, and coursework can be stricter, and my curriculum can sometimes expect a lot from the students, but I understand that students may need extra support. I understand varying home situations that may hinder a student from completing assignments/passing a test. I'm flexible with assignment submissions and offer tutoring to kids who voice that there may be struggles at home or internally.
I currently have two books that are internationally published. One of these books is entitled Angel's Trumpet, which is a book of poetry. I also was inducted into the International Honors Society in Education while in graduate school.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my career upon graduation from high school, so I majored in early childhood education; however, I wasn't sure if it was something I wanted to do the rest of my life, so I graduated with a degree in communications and a minor in photography. After undergraduate school, I felt like my life was missing something, so I decided to further my education. I graduated with a Master's degree in education and English with a 4.0 and honors. Since then, I've been teaching English, language arts, and writing. Eventually, I would love to go back to school to earn my Ed.D.
All of the money that I earn from Teachers Pay Teachers goes right back to my students. I try to supply as much as I can for them, including binders, notebooks, personal hygiene items, etc. because I have many students who cannot afford this.
