VaReane has taught grades kindergarten through eight over the last thirty years. She has been on many district and building committees and scores local fluency and writing assessments. In addition, VaReane has served as a facilitator at the Educational Service Unit and trained teachers in technology instruction since 1996. She presents at the Nebraska Educational Technology Convention each year and has developed many lessons integrating technology which she uses with students during the school year and summer classes. In addition, VaReane has published many ideas and articles with education magazines and websites.
VaReane employs a hands-on approach to learning and believes in involving students throughout the process. Structure and mutual respect keep everyone on task and bring out the best in students and teacher.
VaReane has written and implemented over fifteen grants to assist in purchasing materials to enhance classroom projects. She is the winner of two Nebraska Educational Technology Association Lesson Plan Awards and two more NETA Technology Implemention Grants, five NDE Nutrition in Education Grants, one Allianz/BlueZone Grant, Meatrix Sustainable Table Grant and many district and local organization grants. VaReane was awarded the 2001 Peter Kiewit Excellence In Education Award. However, her truly shining moments are when her students are engaged excitedly in a class project.
Graduate of College of St. Mary, Omaha, NE; Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College, Crete, NE. Many graduate hours in technology instruction and curriculum from Peru State College, Nebraska. Countless hours of training and instruction at Educational Service Unit #3, Omaha, NE.
VaReane and her husband, Terry, enjoy spending time with their children, grandchildren, and ornery... but loveable lab, Lexi.
