This is my fifth year teaching full time. I graduated college in 2014 with a degree in English and Secondary Education. My first two years were spent teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts at a Title I school-- where I taught mostly SPED students and English Language Learners. I enjoyed the challenge of working to meet the needs of all of my students. I currently teach mixed classes of 7th and 8th graders-- I teach 1 section of advanced 8th grade standards English Language Arts, 1 section of 7th grade standards Math, and 2 sections of 7th grade standards Science to gifted and talented students. I enjoy my new challenge of teaching both Math and Science which are subjects I have never taught before. I love working with middle schoolers as they begin to define themselves and make important life choices.
The school I work at is a blended learning school where each student is provided their own laptop-- this means that I utilize technology a lot in my classroom (I know not everyone has the resources that I am provided). My school is for gifted and talented students who don't necessarily do well in traditional classroom settings thus we focus a lot on experiential and project-based learning. My goal is to get my students to love learning and engage in high-level discussions.
