TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I did my student teaching in kindergarten and taught for 5 years in an all-day, nationally accredited, parochial school kindergarten program. I spent two years teaching 1st grade in a public school. I was an elementary/mid-school librarian in a nationally accredited, parochial school for 14 years. I was responsible for a curriculum with formal instruction of library, research, and literacy skills for students in pre-school through 8th grade. I taught 4th grade in a nationally accredited parochial school for one year. I taught 2nd grade for a year and then 4th grade for four years in an independent, public charter school. I am currently a teacher at a public school where I have spent the last four years teaching 2nd grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in child-centered instruction in a safe, caring classroom environment. This can be achieved through a combination of whole group, guided, and individual instructional strategies which give students the confidence and tools they need to be successful. By differentiating my instruction, I can tailor my lessons to better meet the needs of each individual learner.
