I have taught for 32 years, and am certified NK-8. I have a Masters is Education with an emphasis on Teaching, and an endorsement in Gifted Education. I have taught K-4. My most recent position prior to retirement was that of a Gifted Resource Teacher. In this role, I taught lessons that promoted higher level thinking skills K-3 and also created and provided enrichment opportunities for K-5 in all subject areas. I retired from Virginia after 30 years, 18 in Gifted,, and my career took a turn with surprisingly many more similarities than I would have thought! I am now teaching Middle School Reading and Language Arts in the Special Education Environment and loving every minute of it!
I am enthusiastic in my pursuit of challenge for all! With so much focus on meeting standards, many of our students who are on or above level are often not given the attention they need, the opportunities for meaningful challenge they deserve... More work, reading a book, etc. is not the solution. "NO child should be left behind", in my opinion, should be reworded to "EVERY child will grow". It is my desire to help lighten the load of teachers by providing challenging activities for you to use in your classroom.
