I am entering my 16th year of teaching in various public schools around the country, however this is my first time in a specialist role. I have taught as a classroom teacher in grades preK, K, 1, and 4, as well as multi-age classes of grades K-2 (literacy and math), grades 2-4 (reading and writing), grades 4-6 (science) and grades 6-8 (science). This year I am a reading intervention teacher in a local elementary school. I have also taught dance classes to children and adults of all ages and levels of experience. I am the founder of think.move.learn. - a company that integrates kinesthetic movement into academic subjects aligned with the Common Core Standards.
I strive to build a classroom community that focuses on building relationships. I believe that school should be a place for students to come willing to take a risk, and when failure occurs, they still feel safe coming back to try again. I incorporate lots of movement and music into my academic subject areas.

I studied education in Minnesota, where I also grew up. I took several graduate level courses through Stanford University while living in California, which gave me a CLAD endorsement allowing me to work with students whom are beginning English Language Learners. Now, I live and teach in Seattle, Washington. I continue to learn everyday via my students and families!
I have danced in varying capacities for more than 30 years. I have and still continue to study : ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, and hip hop. If you can't find me in a classroom or dance studio, I will likely be at the park playing frisbee with my middle school and toddler, or reading a book!
