- Recipient of 2021 United Arts Council Grant to write a wellness guide. - 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year at my alternative high school. - Honored at the White House in the late 1990s (along with NYS Chancellor, Lester W. Young, Jr.) for being among the first round of winners of the Federal Community Learning Centers Grant.
- BA from Hofstra University and an MA from New York University in English/Creative Writing - National certification to teach general and special education to middle school and high school students
