I am certified in ELED K-8, Music K-12, and Gifted K-12 and have 30 years of experience in education.
I believe in hands on activities, cooperative learning, integrated curriculum, and incorporating technology into my lessons. I work well with other teachers and am called on frequently to lead or collaborate with other teachers in meetings during which aligning curriculum with Common Core Standards, planning lessons to meet these standards, and evaluating students through these standards is being discussed.
I have been awarded the Teaching Dedication Award and the High Achieving Teacher Award by the Atlanta Public School District for 2 years, while teaching there. I was also named a High Achieving Class at Sudduth Elementary in Starkville, MS. I am also a National Board Certified Early Childhood Generalist.
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in music from Mississippi State University. Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in gifted education from Mississippi College.
I have been a teacher for 30 years. My husband of 30 years, is a United Methodist pastor. We have 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy, ages 23, 19, and 15.
