TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach 5th grade and love every minute with my students! Even though I am quite busy, I love what I do. I have taught 19 years in the elementary classroom, grades 1-5. I am a teacher consultant with the National Writing Project, and also earned my National Boards Certification in "Middle Childhood Generalist." My undergrad degree and Master's degree are both in Elementary Education (Master's had a focus on reading and writing instruction). I am currently working toward obtaining my Reading Endorsement.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach using a project based/inquiry perspective of my curriculum. I love to let my students experience as much of their learning as they can so they can remember what they learned. Anytime I can bring food into the classroom to teach a concept is epic!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

National Boards certification, Teaching Writing certificate from Clemson University, I have presented different Reading/Writing/Technology sessions at ASCD and various state (SC) and local conferences (Greenville).

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Masters from Clemson University

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I've always wanted to be a teacher, ever since I was in 2nd grade. I loved learning then, and I love seeing my students light up when they understand a new concept. My goal as a teacher is to, not only teach my students what they need to know to be successful in life, but also to teach them to think and inspire them to be life long learners.
