The Merry Mathematician

I have been teaching since 2007. I began in 2nd grade at an open concept school in an inner urban area. I moved to teaching mathematics at the middle level after two years. In 2011 I fell in love with 5th grade and have been there ever since! I am also blessed to have the opportunity to work as an adjunct instructor for Oklahoma State University teaching Math Methods courses.

Developing a sense of how mathematics is really used in the world is absolutely vital for students who will be curating our future. This is why I use a Problem Centered Learning approach blended with small group instruction and a strong focus on mathematical discourse. Innovation, critical reasoning and a passion for learning are my main goals in the classroom which I hope to lead my students to though my own passion and joy for learning.

I am the proud mommy of a little one who lights up my world every day. I make resources for us to use at home during the summer in addition to my classroom materials so if you see some odds and ends, those were probably for her, and probably too cute not to share!
