I student taught in 2nd grade, spent two years teaching 5th grade and then switched to 3rd grade, which is where I am at now!
I love to focus on classroom community, collaboration, communication, and hands-on learning. I use flexible seating to ensure that these and other 21st-century skills are being developed. I believe that students should be the at the center of everything going on in the classroom and my style reflects that with very open discussions and accountability for all students.
Beginning Teacher of the Year, 2016, Hanover County Public Schools
I received my Bachelors degree from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. I double majored in Linguistics and Biopsychology. Then, I stayed and completed my Masters (MAEd) in Elementary Education at W&M, too. Then, after completing two years of teaching, I decided to begin working on my Reading Endorsement through the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia.
I LOVE design, refurbishing furniture, all things Disney, painting, and of course, READING!
