I have two decades of classroom teaching experience teaching all four core subjects, but especially social studies. I have served on district-level curriculum committees as well as volunteered in foreign schools helping with summer programs and adult literacy.
I strive to create resources and a classroom environment where students can explore the rich content of the past, analyze diverse civilizations, and make connections to their modern world. My lessons center on giving students access to a variety of resources that encourage problem-solving, analytical skills, and creative thinking.
I graduated with honors in both my undergraduate and graduate programs.
I have an M.A. in Education, a B.A. in Elementary Education, and a state-level Middle School Social Studies Endorsement. In addition, I’ve completed 60+ hours of post-graduate coursework as well as professional development in social studies, pedagogy and learning, and educational technology.
Personally, I love history, especially ancient history and cultures. I’m an avid traveler who loves to visit America’s National Parks. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit a dozen and a half different countries. If I’m not reading at least one book about ancient history or linguistics, I’m spending time enjoying music, photography and family and friends.
