TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught at a Texas public elementary school as a teacher of self-contained inclusion classes which included E.S.L., G.T., and Special Education students. I have also taught high school English in Japan and adult education. My current work is on student retention strategies in adult education.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In primary education, I enjoy teaching subjects based on the workshop model (after the Teacher's College Reading & Writing Workshop). In primary education, my favorite subject to teach is Language Arts, and my favorite aspect of teaching anything is Accountable Talk. I believe that asking the right questions and engaging students in discussion nurtures them into critical thinkers. In secondary or higher education, I enjoy teaching English as a Second Language and Technology Education. I started my Teachers Pay Teachers online store when I took a break from full-time teaching to focus on my post-graduate degree. Being a part of the TPT community has been a rewarding experience, and I look forward to creating more teaching and learning resources that will help you in your classroom!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Every personal positive note that I receive from a student, parent, or educator. =)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

University of Houston: Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. University of Texas at Austin: Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development, Reading and ESL Specializations. Teacher's Certifications in Technology Applications, Elementary, Gifted and Talented, ESL, and Art Education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In my free time, I make technology-related materials, study languages, and create teaching materials which are available on TeachersPayTeachers. I enjoy following educators on social media and reading about educational technology trends.
