Most of my career was spent teaching all subjects in primary grades 1-3. I have also taught sixth grade reading, writing, drama and social studies. I have worked with students K-7 in many capacities, tutoring, drama clubs, academic teams and mentoring. I was fortunate enough to have taught in a Reading First school and enjoyed the trainings, opportunities and materials it brought to us. I eventually became a trainer myself and I loved every moment of being able to share my love of teaching reading.
There was never a dull moment in my classroom. It was my undying commitment to assure that students were engaged, having fun learning and growing. I loved being on my feet and rarely sat down. I was a bit unorthodox at times adding lots of drama, music, dance, games, game shows, debates, stores, real life experiences, cooperative group activities and employing high-yield strategies. I've even been known to turn the entire classroom into a game board, a cruise ship and a train station. "Serious fun" was a planning goal for me.
I was nominated by our town's Chamber of Commerce as Educator of the Year; spotlighted by our district as Teacher of the Month.

First, THANKS to Prettygrafik https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Mermaid-clipart-commercial-use-vector-graphics-digital-CL741-1538495 for Mermaid art on my banner and header. In addition to having written, directed and produced many scripts for students, I have also written plays for staff to present to students. Lots of fun! I regularly act in community theaters and have played main characters so I have been on both sides of the stage. I always write scripts with both the actors and directors in mind. That's a wonderful part of my life but my favorite part is being married to the sweetest man on earth. Between us, we have 4 awesome kids and 3 adorable grandbabies!
