TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I left the classroom in January of 2023 to become a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist within my state government. I was a certified teacher with 15 years of experience teaching music. Most recently, I spent 9 years as a K-12 general music teacher at a special education school focusing on mental health needs. I was the GSA (gender and sexuality alliance) advisor at the school, which led me to the career path I am currently taking. Additionally, I have 5 years of experience teaching middle school orchestra near Atlanta, Georgia and another cumulative year substitute teaching. Representation Matters: Please note that I am an LGBTQ+ teacher. My LGBTQ+ products come from a place of experience, research, practice, and a desire to normalize the LGBTQ+ community within the school environment.
