I have formal experience in 4th grade and Kindergarten with limited time in 1st and 3rd grade. However, my job as a teacher and educator has been a life long job beginning with my seven younger siblings and 2 parents who valued and encouraged education of all kinds-- academic, the arts, and sports. I now am a teacher in a new capacity-- I stay at home and teach my newborn daughter how to live, learn, and thrive. My husband works as a sixth grade teacher, and I assist him in making lots of supplies for his classroom. I also work privately to create documents, centers, projects, and assignments for teachers that I have known in the past. This will allow my site to cover a variety of grades and topics.
I am a hands-on, loud, personable, and kinda' crazy teacher. (I have been compared to Mrs. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus, and it doesn't hurt that I have wildly curly hair.) I especially love math and science and take pride in everything that I make, holding myself to extremely high standards. I also hold my students and those around me to very high standards and have a special emphasis on discipline in the classroom. I love the CHAMPS system of discipline, as you can see from many of the things I have created.
I was given the opportunity to form a school-wide discipline system for the largest elementary school in Fort Worth, TX. The system was a success and is still in place at that school. I was on the Dean's list at Texas Tech University and graduated Cum Laude. I have received multiple "World's best teacher" awards and mugs. ;)
I began learning under the wing of my educator father and nurse mother at a very young age. I have attended school in Adelaide, Australia, Sharon, Kansas, Elgin, Illinois, New Braunfels, Texas, Belton, Texas (University of Mary Hardin-Baylor), and Lubbock, Texas (Texas Tech University). I have been teaching all of my life, but officially began my teaching career in Lubbock when I taught Science and Social Studies to a fantastic group of 4th graders.
This is the first year in 20 years that I have not been inside a classroom of some kind-- but just TRY to keep me from both teaching and learning. My daughter is growing and discovering new things every day. I enjoy teaching her and also learning how to be a mother.
