I have been teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) for 10 years. I have taught every level - from the true beginner (just arrived in the U.S. and doesn't speak a word of English) to the advanced (fluent in English but working on perfecting writing skills). My background before teaching was in business. I come from a family who always owned their own business so I grew up with an extremely strong work ethic, a spirit of entrepreneurship, and the spirit of never being afraid to try and fail because if you don't try, you will miss out on so much in life.
Because of my background and upbringing, the style of my teaching and atmosphere in my classroom is that of a safe haven where you can try and not be afraid to fail. My students know it is safe in my classroom - just as safe to fail as much as it is safe to succeed. With this style, I see so many wonderful successes in my classroom! I lead by example telling my students of my latest adventure in learning new things - the triumphs and the failures - because I want them to have the ambition to learn and try new things!
