TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Been art teaching since 2006 and worked in a variety of schools, I've taught all students pk-12. I love finding ways to integrate art into other disciplines, and I love helping teachers with classroom and behavior management. I currently teach: - 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Art - High school Darkroom Photography - High school Graphic Design & Advertising

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in empowering young artists to think for themselves, and to have the courage to develop their own ideas. I've always created a rigorous, but student centered, environment - where students have easy access to materials of their choosing. Careful scaffolding in each unit to teach skills and materials, and then lovingly kicking students out of the nest to find their own voice while meeting criteria.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Art Teacher of the Month, 2014 Middle Art Teacher of the Year, 2013 "Nicest Teacher," 2012 Outstanding Art Major, 2006 S.U.R.E Grant to develop literature on Experimental Encaustics, 2005 Multiple personal artworks in private and public collections.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my BA from Stetson University, with a focus on experimental mixed media. I am currently working on my MA in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love biking, reading, playing with power tools, learning new skills, and making messes, much to my boyfriend's chagrin.
