The Children's Hour is an internationally syndicated public radio program and podcast. The "Brief History of the American Southwest for Kids" series was produced over two years, with numerous tribal and other historians pitching in to tell an accurate story of this magical region of the United States. The public radio program The Children's Hour is heard on more than 140 public radio stations worldwide, and captivates nearly 1,000,000 people each week. This series was designed for classroom use to teach about the true history of this long populated region of the United States, home to the first American revolution.
The history is taught through a series of interviews with professional historians, archeologists, and tribal historians. Each episode focuses on a period of time in our history that set the stage for the next chapter. Through interviews, and reflection with our Kids Crew members Isaac and LilyMae, we learn how this region came to be populated, and how the original inhabitants were able to keep some of their land after colonization by Spain and the budding United States.
This series is a first of its kind, teaching the most up to date version of what are known historical facts. We look forward to winning many awards! ;^)
