I have taught high school English/Writing for two years. I also taught Geography for a year. But I have been teaching visual arts, my true passion, for almost five years.
With regards to Art, I prefer to teach processes and techniques and then allow the student to explore and develop their skills through practice. My focus with ELA is to develop literacy and critical thinking skills through multiple methods and assessments.
I was asked to develop a new curriculum for my district's Creative Writing requisite course for incoming freshmen.
I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Art and Art History from East Tennessee State University in 2011. I returned to ETSU to get my Master of Arts in Teaching degree and graduated in 2013.
In my free time, I focus on my own artistic endeavors, as well as run a blog and take care of my sweet nephew Carson.
