TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a passionate educator with many years of varied classroom experience. I spent 7 years as an 8th grade science teacher, 5 years as a high school chemistry, Earth Science and AVID teacher and 3 years as a professor in a private university's credential program. I have been privileged to have 3 wonderful student teachers as well as being a support teacher on campus at the high school for new teachers. I have loved every minute of every teaching experience! As educators, we have the opportunity to ignite a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime. My materials have been designed with this in mind.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love hands-on activities and exploration based learning. I believe that as educators we should be educating the whole child and not just the learner in our classroom; we must wear many hats (most of which have nothing to do with our classroom subject). Many of the products in my store reflect this teaching stye. To learn more, check out my blog: www.theardentteacher.com

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Received excellence in teaching award, inspirational teacher of the year award, outstanding thesis award for my masters research, presented my research at an international conference (AERA), presented at state conference on classroom management

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Masters of Education in curriculum development and instruction as well as a specialized single subject credential in geo-sciences and Chemistry. Bachelors degree in BioPhysical and Environmental Geography with an emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Before becoming a teacher, I worked in a soils lab, a GIS lab and at an engineering firm as a staff Scientist and GIS specialist.
