My educational career began during my undergraduate experience at Texas A&M, where I served as a writing tutor and senior level consultant for college students of all ages. Before graduating, I was recruited by Teach for America to serve in a classroom for two years in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. During that time, I served as a fourth grade teacher where I developed a passion for teaching Writing. When high-quality resources were not available within my district, I decided to create them on my own. That Teacher From Texas was born. I've personally used all of the resources in my store, and they were critical to improving my students' academic performance.
I believe that the learning process should be authentic to experiences in the real world, where feedback is natural and guiding. The problem with our current education system is the teachers hold all the knowledge and students learn about the world in this bubble called the classroom. When creating resources for TPT, I strive to create and facilitate educational experiences that are engaging, high in rigor, and interactive.
