First, I would like to introduce myself: I've been a high school science teacher since 2005, with a goal of being a great marine science teacher. I became certified in earth space science and biology in Florida, and I began teaching in here in 2007, and at that time I began teaching the subject I love: Marine Science, and Biology. I've taught: - Marine science regular / honors (16 years) - Biology (5 years) - AICE marine science AS level (3 years) - Earth / space (2 years) - Physical science (2 years) - AP environmental science (1 year, loved it) - AICE environmental management (~1 year, do NOT love it!!!) I have some of the coolest students, who make my job fun. I am a lifetime member of the Florida Marine Science Educators Association, and have always loved the ocean since I could remember.
Teaching is challenging, which is why I love it. I am honestly not sure what to say about my teaching 'style' - I pretty much never follow the same path from one year to the next. I don't think good teachers get into teaching so they can laminate lesson plans! Each year you have to make adjustments, find what is suddenly not working this year, that worked last year, and tweek it. Or, reinvent something brand new for a totally new group of kids who are more advanced. That's what I love, that part, but it's the kids - they just make doing that never ending dance worth it.

I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor's degree in marine science and biology in 2003. I spent some time as a substitute teacher and a track coach, which is how I realized I love teaching. I started towards my first Masters degree in 2006 at the University of Mary Washington in secondary education so I could become a teacher. Unfortunately (or fortunately, however you look at the glass), a new teaching job in 2007 took me to Florida and I was not able to finish that degree. My most recent degree was my Masters in educational leadership from Stetson University.
