TEACHING EXPERIENCE

✏️ 10+ years teaching and working in USA public schools; K-12 ✏️ 4+ years working as an educational assistant in USA, UK, and France ✏️ 4+ years teaching Dual Language/Spanish Immersion K-8 ✏️ 9+ years teaching Civics; Government; ✏️ 9+ years teaching US History ✏️ 5+ years teaching Language Arts (in both English and Spanish) ✏️ 5+ years teaching Modern World History ✏️ Created and taught the first gender studies course at my school!

MY TEACHING STYLE

✏️ I believe first and foremost that we best serve our students by teaching human beings first, curriculum second. The moment your curriculum comes first is the moment you burn out, and its time to find a new job! ✏️ I believe human beings are both intrinsically good, and intrinsically curious. ✏️ I believe in meeting learners, whether children or adults, where they are. You cannot teach anyone until you know them. ✏️ I believe in the recognition and celebration of difference, but I challenge attaching that difference to any kind of hierarchical privilege.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

✏️ James Madison fellowship 2015 ✏️ Named 2017-18 Civic Scholar in Oregon by Senator Ginny Burdick for Senate District 18
