As a newly retired teacher, my classroom experience varies. Most of my years were spent teaching sixth and seventh grades. A few years were spent teaching eighth and fifth. All years pertain to ELA with one year as a math teacher. I also experienced teaching social studies and some science. Fortunately, teaming to include learning that interacted with other subjects is something I experienced, too. You can only imagine that over the course of 30 years, a teacher tries, attempts, delivers, plans, and devotes lessons that differentiate lots of learning styles and strategies. I know I did!
Although I love to watch students interact with each other while learning, I know that is not always the best way to learn everything. Sometimes it just takes some individual studying and applying. In my lessons I try to create some of both. the Tennessee Learning Style is what I find works best when delivering lessons ( I Do, We Do, You Do).
I have received numerous awards and honors... mostly for reading, but the one that stands out the most is when in my seventh year of teaching, my peers voted me Teacher of the Year for my school. I went on to compete and won TOTY for my school system. That was an awesome day!

I did it the hard way! After being married four years and two children later, I started college. Taking seven years on and off (and one more child), I graduated with my teaching degree. It was a memorable day for sure! I stuck with it for 30 years, and then I retired to enjoy more time with my grandchildren, who are very active. My husband and I are still going strong after 42 years of marriage, and we plan many weekend getaways with our camper... until he retires... then watch out world because here we come!
