I've been teaching for 5 years. I taught 4th grade math for 2 years, then Title I for 3 years, which is reading and math for 1st-5th graders. I just quite my teaching job to be a stay-home-mom with my daughters who are 2.5 years old and 4 months old. I plan weekly themes and activities for my toddler, just as you'd find in most preschools.
I combine ideas from many different resources when planning lessons, whether it's for my kids at home, or my kids in the classroom. I like to capture student attention first to get them interested, provide the knowledge next, practice together, then have them practice alone. I also try to reiterate material throughout the day, in fun ways, during transitions and even play time. I believe that games, songs, movements, and other interactive and hands on activities are important to include in all lessons.
I graduated with Magna Cum Laude when I got my Bachelors Degree.
I got my Bachelors Degree from Shippensburg University in PA and have done different forms of continuing education since then to become more knowledgable and continue my teaching certification. I am certified Pre-K through 6th grade.
My husband is finishing his PhD here in VA. Soon we will move back to PA to be closer to family. We have two amazing daughters, L and E, who are 2.5 years and 4 months, and a beagle/aussie mix named Boomer. Boomer is also a girl, so my husband if completely outnumbered!
