As of this year I have taught K-12 grade. I have taught a wide range of classes from social skills to social studies to English Language Arts to ESE specific classes to self-contained VE/ASD classroom. I have a wide range of knowledge from controlling behaviors to curriculum and instruction. I use different methods for each of my students because each student is different and have different needs. Before becoming a teacher I worked as a middle school para-professional. I feel like education is my calling and I am along for the ride. I attend as many trainings as possible to make sure I am up to date on all the different methods of teaching. I am apart of our district leader team.
I use the styles needed to help my students. Since I am currently in a self-contained classroom, I have a little more freedom than when I was in the gen ed setting. If one of my student's wants my hair down as part of their behavior contract, than my hair is down (P.S. it is actually working). I learned structure is key with some organized chaos thrown in to keep the kids on their toes. With having students who need structure having the organized chaos helps them achieve their IEP goals which is something I have to do.
I am apart of our district teacher leadership team.
